Before I started learning anew with Gareth Bowkett, I’d failed my test twice, had always struggled with anxiety, and was really nervous about taking the test again. Gareth was such a brilliant teacher, and helped me feel really calm and confident. I passed first time with Gareth as my instructor - I wouldn’t have passed without him! He’s a great guy and a 10/10 instructor, would definitely recommend him 💯 Had many laughs across my lessons, and his calm demeanour put me at ease and made me super confident. Huge recommend for anyone looking for a calm and patient instructor in Norwich!
I had a great experience with How2Drive and my instructor Barry Robinson. He was very accommodating in my first few lessons and was super helpful in giving me pointers both on the road and off it throughout my time with him. After accumulating around 60 hours of lesson practice, in just under a year, I was able to pass my test first time. So, I would definitely recommend starting lessons with them as they have proven to be really competent and helpful in the process of learning to drive a car 👍🏾
I passed first time with zero minors. Sean Kemp has been an excellent driving instructor that is friendly, patient and all you could ask for in a driving instructor !
I honestly cannot recommend Jim enough! After having two instructors before, I can confidently say Jim has been the best by far. He explains everything so clearly and makes sure you fully understand before moving on. His calm, patient, and supportive teaching style made such a huge difference to my confidence on the road. Thanks to him, I passed my driving test first time! I’ve learned more with Jim in a short amount of time than I ever did with my previous instructors. If you’re looking for an instructor who genuinely cares about your progress and success, Jim is the one to go to. Absolutely amazing!
Great experience with How 2 Drive and my instructor Tim Ecclestone. Tim was very patient, friendly and helpful which allowed my confidence in the car to grow massively. Tim went above and beyond over the lessons to make sure that I was comfortable, confident and test ready! Thanks Tim!

Have questions about taking driving tuition with us?

Can I Take Automatic Driving Lessons?
Yes, you can! We now have automatic instructors for the following locations:
Do You Offer Intensive Driving Lessons?

Yes! We are happy to announce that we are now able to offer intensive driving lessons in both the Greater Norwich area and the Lowestoft and Yarmouth areas.

How Long Will it Take to Pass My Test?

If you are a beginner we can teach you to drive to a high standard in around 30 hours. By this point you’ll be ready to pass your test.

If you already have some driving and road experience we’ll aim to do it even quicker than that!

How Many Driving Lessons Will I Need Before I Take My Test?

This is easily one of the most common questions we get asked at How-2-Drive.

We know you want to learn how to drive in as few lessons as possible. We understand that you don’t want to feel rushed. But, at the same time, you also don’t want your tuition to drag on for longer than necessary.

Clearly-structured driving lessons

By using our Structured Driver Training System, we are able to deliver well-planned lessons that have clear objectives. Learning to drive is a considerable investment and we want you to get good value for your money.

According to the DVSA, it takes an average of 47 hours to pass the practical driving test. And that’s for learners who are sensible enough to study with an Approved Driving Instructor. On top of this, the DVSA says an additional 20 hours of private driving practice is also required.

How many sessions can we save you?

But who wants to be average? As a result of our specially-designed Structured Driver Training System, our pupils take 17 hours less than the DVSA average!

Our tried-and-tested system can reduce the time it will take you to learn to drive. We consistently bring our pupils up to pass standard within 30 to 40 hours of instructor contact time.

That’s up to 17 hours less than the average learner driver. We can save you time and money!

How Will I Know How I’m Getting On With My Lessons?

You will be given your own Learning to Drive Handbook when you start taking driving lessons with us. Your instructor will use it to record your progress after each lesson. This will give you a record of how well you are doing and what you need to learn or practice next.

You will also be encouraged to keep a reflective log. You can use this to review your own learning so that you can discuss your objectives with your driving instructor at the start of each lesson.
