Tim has been an amazing instructor. We clicked from day 1 and got on like a house on fire, always engaged in some kind thought-provoking conversation during lessons.

He approached every lesson intentionally, using a form to help organise each part of the lesson and record progress. Before each drive, Tim would check in to see what I wanted to focus on and tailored the lesson to my needs.

Not to mention that he is flexible and willing to make things work. He went above and beyond to find me a last-minute cancellation and even put in extra time to ensure I felt fully prepared for the big day. With his instruction and guidance, I passed first time with just one minor!

I would recommend Tim to anyone who is looking to get their driving licence, you couldn’t be in better hands.
Tim Ecclestone was my driving instructor and made the process very relaxed and stress free.
He's a great laugh, but keeps things professional.
He really helped me through a difficult time in my life right before my test date keeping me focused and calm when I could have just fallen apart. Tim is always positive and giving encouragement.
I passed first time with only one minor fault!
Can definitely recommend.
Huge thanks to Blair for helping me pass my driving test with 0 faults!! He made every lesson great, and gave me the confidence I needed on the day. I definitely recommend him to anyone learning to drive. Appreciate all the help!
Got an incredible instructor in Fraser, very honest about my abilities and worked hard with me to shore up weaknesses in my driving. Went out of his way to fit in a couple extra lessons pre-test and was brutal and honest with me when needed. Definitely recommending him to anyone who wants a calm, patient and understanding instructor while offering constructive criticism. Passed first time.
Had Kevin from How 2 Drive get me my pass just the other day. Wonderful instructor, laid back, patient and explains things in clear and calm way. Has a great sense of humour too. Would recommend Kevin to friends & others.

Have questions about taking driving tuition with us?

Can I Take Automatic Driving Lessons?
Yes, you can! We now have automatic instructors for the following locations:
Do You Offer Intensive Driving Lessons?

Yes! We are happy to announce that we are now able to offer intensive driving lessons in both the Greater Norwich area and the Lowestoft and Yarmouth areas.

How Long Will it Take to Pass My Test?

If you are a beginner we can teach you to drive to a high standard in around 30 hours. By this point you’ll be ready to pass your test.

If you already have some driving and road experience we’ll aim to do it even quicker than that!

How Many Driving Lessons Will I Need Before I Take My Test?

This is easily one of the most common questions we get asked at How-2-Drive.

We know you want to learn how to drive in as few lessons as possible. We understand that you don’t want to feel rushed. But, at the same time, you also don’t want your tuition to drag on for longer than necessary.

Clearly-structured driving lessons

By using our Structured Driver Training System, we are able to deliver well-planned lessons that have clear objectives. Learning to drive is a considerable investment and we want you to get good value for your money.

According to the DVSA, it takes an average of 47 hours to pass the practical driving test. And that’s for learners who are sensible enough to study with an Approved Driving Instructor. On top of this, the DVSA says an additional 20 hours of private driving practice is also required.

How many sessions can we save you?

But who wants to be average? As a result of our specially-designed Structured Driver Training System, our pupils take 17 hours less than the DVSA average!

Our tried-and-tested system can reduce the time it will take you to learn to drive. We consistently bring our pupils up to pass standard within 30 to 40 hours of instructor contact time.

That’s up to 17 hours less than the average learner driver. We can save you time and money!

How Will I Know How I’m Getting On With My Lessons?

You will be given your own Learning to Drive Handbook when you start taking driving lessons with us. Your instructor will use it to record your progress after each lesson. This will give you a record of how well you are doing and what you need to learn or practice next.

You will also be encouraged to keep a reflective log. You can use this to review your own learning so that you can discuss your objectives with your driving instructor at the start of each lesson.
