Your local driving school in Thetford & Bury

Looking for a local driving instructor in your area? Our approved driving instructors deliver driving lessons in Thetford, Brandon, Elveden and Bury St. Edmunds. We also cover the surrounding villages in the south Breckland and north St. Edmundsbury areas. Unlike many other schools that offer driving tuition near you, we are an independent driving school with our headquarters based in East Anglia.

Our patient and friendly instructors are ready to coach you from nervous novice right through to passing your test with flying colours! But we won’t just teach you how to pass your test – we’ll teach you good driving habits that will set you up for a lifetime of safe driving.

Or, perhaps you’ve already taken classes with another school and are now waiting to take your test? No problem – we offer test preparation and refresher courses too!

Find the right driving instructor for you

Choosing the right driving instructor can be difficult. Will you like them? Will they be able to work with your learning style? Will they be any good?

We give your first hour free

Many other driving schools will tempt you with their block driving lessons deals. But usually, you’ll have to pre-pay for up to 10 hours before you even take your first lesson. This is a lot of money to pay to someone you haven’t even met yet!

That’s why we give you your first hour free when you book your introductory two-hour lesson with How-2-Drive.

Completed my driving with James Tinsey and passed first time today. James is a relaxed and great instructor. We... approached our driving with a perfection based approach which made the test incredibly easy and calming. I could not recommend how2drive and my instructor James Tinsey any more and if I could it would be a 10/5. The driving school itself is run by great people who communicate really well with any issues I had and it is clear to see why how2drive and it’s students are so successful. The car was beautiful to drive too!read more

Peter was the best driving instructor I have ever come across throughout the period of learning my practical driving,... he is very polite, patient and never shouts on his candidates, in fact words are not enough to express how good he was to me, he is always ready to teach you multiple times until you become perfect, I highly recommend him for any one that wants to learn his or her driving practicals, thank you sir, you are the best.read more

A year ago i started as a PDI having undertaken a rigorous training programme with Howard Floyd. I really cannot... emphasise how good Howard is with his training and from early on with the training demonstrated a lot more confidence in me than perhaps i had myself. The role play sessions in the instructional training were always fun but really helped my understanding of how to identify and fix faults. Howard was always encouraging and really getting me to try and probe deeper with questioning to understand root cause of faults, this has helped enormously as my own teaching time has progressed. For anyone thinking of training to become a driving instructor then there is only one choice if you want the best training and grounding for a new career.Howard's training doesn't end when you get the trainee licence and the additional training sessions with Howard observing my teaching and providing feedback on areas that need improvement is invaluable on the learning journey you have to undertake.Howard is always there at the end of a phone if you have any questions/situations you need help with. They really helped to contribute to my own part 3 pass in May 23.This job really is incredibly rewarding/stressful/nervewracking and fun and you never know from day to day which it is going to be. No two days are the same and just when you think you've cracked it a lesson is just round the corner to offer you new learnings. You get to meet some great people and seeing them with the pass certificate truly is the most rewarding of endings.I can't finish the review without a special mention for Sam and Jenny who are amazing in filling our slots and also being there at the end of the phone if we need to offload after a frustrating lesson/day.All the other How2Drive instructors are there for you as well with help and advice when you need any, it really is an amazing team.See it, say it, sort it!!!!!!!read more
